Chamomile Tea with Honey

Drinking a hot cup of chamomile tea with added honey is a simple way reap in the health benefits of both these wonderful natural ingredients. It’s easy to make, honey helps with the taste, and beneficial for kids, adults, and elders alike.

Although mainly recommended for better sleep and calming anxiety, the benefits of chamomile tea are far-reaching. These include decreasing blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetics, relieving painful menstrual cramps, reducing thyroid cancer risk, as well as reduction in LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Read below for two simple ways to prepare a chamomile tea with added honey.

(1) Easy Teabag Method – Chamomile Tea with Honey

Ingredients:

  • 1 mug of water
  • 1 teabag of chamomile tea
  • 2 teaspoons of raw honey

Instructions:

  1. Bring the water to a boil.
  2. Pour the water in a mug.
  3. Add the chamomile teabag.
  4. Cover and leave to steep for 5 to 8 minutes.
  5. Remove the teabag.
  6. Add the raw honey. Mix well.
  7. Drink hot.

(2) Traditional Chamomile (Loose Flower) Tea with Honey

Ingredients:

  • 1 mug of water
  • 1 heaped teaspoon of loose chamomile flowers / leaves
  • 2 teaspoons of raw honey

Instructions:

  1. Add the loose chamomile flowers to a mug.
  2. Add water to cover about 1 cm above the chamomile (Normal room temperature water. Not boiled).
  3. Leave this to steep for about 2 minutes. In the meantime, start boiling the water.
  4. Pour the boiled water into the mug.
  5. Cover and leave to steep for 5 minutes.
  6. Strain out the chamomile flowers.
  7. Add the raw honey. Mix well.
  8. Drink hot.
